The Role

They’re seeking an editorial lead to oversee our global written content output, including our newsletter content, website content and membership communications. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, this role will be responsible for setting the strategic plan for newsletter and website editorial, creating written content & articles, curating content from their fan culture partners and helping to develop new editorial products.


  • Overall global Editorial lead for their website and newsletter products
  • Create written articles for both website and newsletters, designed to engage their subscribers and promote our programming, ecommerce and membership products
  • Curate content from their other partners and fan culture influencers, to include in their website and newsletter - eg fanzines, podcasts, digital publishers
  • Support with uploading and optimising content for their website and newsletters using content management systems (CMSs)
  • Support with optimising content for SEO
  • Work with the Data Insights team to understand audience analytics and optimise content using insights
  • Work closely with the Director of Content Strategy and their Social team to integrate with their publishing schedule, and ensure consistent editorial tone of voice
  • Work closely with the CRM and Product Marketing function to manage delivery and optimisation of our newsletters, including created personalisation and segmentation strategies
  • Work closely with the Ecommerce product team to incorporate promotion of ecommerce products in our website and newsletters
  • Support in general day to day content creation and curation activities


  • 3+ years experience in an editorial role with a digital publisher / media / content company (we would like to see examples of previous written articles and content)
  • Strong capability in content writing, editing and digital content management
  • Strong understanding of football and the world of football fan culture; the ideal candidate will have worked previously in a football-focused editorial role at a media company
  • A good understanding of email newsletter best practices, ideally will have previous experience writing and editing newsletters
  • Proven experience managing websites and using online Content Management Systems (e.g. Wordpress, Squarespace), working with HTML content
  • Experience in SEO techniques to drive online traffic
  • Copywriting skills
  • A strong understanding of social media and audience development techniques
  • Previous experience in promoting ecommerce products and using web articles and newsletters to drive users to transact is preferred
  • Able to work in a fast moving and ever-changing environment, including working with initiative to take on responsibility and proactively problem solve
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills - experience collaborating with internal stakeholders and driving groups to consensus
  • Strong project management experience
